Brake Repair in Long Beach, CA

Brake Repair at Long Beach Alignment & Auto Repair in Long Beach.

Squealing, grinding, or a soft pedal are your brakes asking for attention. At Long Beach Alignment & Auto Repair, we measure your pads and rotors, check the calipers and fluid, and give you a straight answer about what needs doing now and what can wait. You’ll never be pressured into work you don’t need.

Bring it in if you hear a squeal or squeak when you stop, a grinding or scraping noise, or feel a pedal that is soft or sinks, if the car pulls to one side when braking, if there’s vibration in the pedal or steering wheel, or if the brake warning light is on. It’s much better to check early than to wait for a small problem to become a bigger one.

Salt air near the harbor puts a layer of rust on rotors fast, especially on cars that sit for a few days. Some of that is normal and wipes off in the first few stops, but deep pitting and grinding are not, and we’ll show you the difference so you can see for yourself. Tell us your year, make, and model and what your car is doing, and we give you a price before any work begins.

Here’s how we do it: we pull the wheels, measure pad thickness and rotor condition, and check calipers, hoses, and fluid. Then you get a clear quote showing what is urgent and what is not, and you decide. Once you approve the work, we replace what you approved, bed in the new pads, and test-drive the car before handing it back.

Brakes most often squeal because the pads are worn to the wear indicator, or there is rust or glazing on the rotors, and we check which it is before recommending anything. You don’t always need new rotors with new pads. If they’re thick enough and not warped or badly pitted, they can often be reused, and we measure and tell you.

A pad and rotor job on one axle is usually done the same day, often within a couple of hours. Grinding usually means the pads are worn through, and metal is touching the rotor, so stop driving on it if you can and call us. Many manufacturers recommend changing brake fluid every two to three years, and we can test yours and tell you if it’s due. We work on cars, pickups, SUVs, and vans, including heavier work trucks.
